Boston-headquartered online sportsbook and daily fantasy operator DraftKings has announced two new additions to its board of directors.
Effective from yesterday (September 23rd), Jocelyn Moore and Valerie Mosley have been named as directors.
With these latest two appointments, the DraftKings board has now been expanded to 15 members.
The beginning of Moore and Mosley’s tenures follows on from a couple of other recent high-profile changes at the company.
“They bring a unique skill set”
Valerie Mosley is the founder and CEO of Upward Wealth. As the name suggests, this company focuses on enabling Americans to grow their net worth. She also advises and invests in various companies, assets and efforts through Valmo Ventures.
Mosley’s background in finance also extends back to working at Wellington Management Company, LLP for two decades. Here, she was a Senior Vice President and Investment Strategist.
Meanwhile, Jocelyn Moore is a Venture Partner at Ozone X Adventures. She has a previous sporting background; she was the Executive Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs at the National Football League (NFL). She has also been recognized by both Business Insider and the Sports Betting Journal as a Sports Betting Power Player, as well as a Notable Woman in the Business of Sports by New York Business.
DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robbins commented on the appointments of Moore and Mosley.
“I am very much looking forward to working closely with both Valerie and Jocelyn as we continue to grow DraftKings.
“They each bring a unique skill set that will complement those of our existing members while simultaneously bringing new perspectives and ideas to the table.”
High-profile changes elsewhere
As it continues to cater for the ever-growing US sports betting industry, DraftKings has been proactive in growing itself over the past couple of months. Earlier this month, it was announced that Michael Jordan would also form part of the company’s future.
The former NBA star, who is a member of the Hall of Fame and Chairman of Hornet Sports and Entertainment, will be a Special Advisor to the Board.
Jordan has also invested in the US sports betting giant.
Changes closer to the pitch too
September has been a busy month for DraftKings. In addition to becoming the official and exclusive sports betting partner of the New York Giants, the company has also entered a content deal with ESPN. This will see the US sports broadcasting network integrate links to DraftKings offerings across its platforms – giving fans the opportunity to enjoy the company’s daily fantasy sports offerings. Links to these services will be geo-targeted to states where daily fantasy sports is legal.
The operator has also agreed an exclusive sports betting partner deal with the Chicago Cubs, along with launching a land-based sportsbook in Manchester, New Hampshire.
